A Romantic Vancouver Washington Engagement Session - With a Family Twist
Having lived in both Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington the Columbia River holds a special place in my heart. When Alexis and Wes got engaged, I knew it was the perfect backdrop to celebrate their engagement and to capture the joy of the Pacific Northwest Summer with Wes’s two boys.
We chose a park along the river on the Vancouver side of the river that gave us both wide-open space for the boys to run and softer, tucked-away spots for engagement photos. The kids weren’t sure about all the posing at first, but I have more than a few tricks up my sleeve to bring even the most camera-shy kids out of their shell when shooting family photography.
After a quick game of red-light, green-light to warm up, the kids brought the energy and laughter that makes it easy to capture family dynamics and connection (not to mention the dreamy, golden-hour sun floating through all the sand we kicked up.)
I finally released the boys to go hang, and got Alexis and Wes to snuggle up for more intimate portraits. The golden glow on the Columbia river created the perfect timeless images with a subtle nod to the Golden State where they had just gotten engaged. I love a shoot that can be more than just engagement photos or family portraits, and this was such an amazing celebration of the Pacific Northwest summer, family, and a love story.
