My favorite Vancouver, Washington beach for portraits.

Frenchman's Bar Regional Park is my favorite location for portrait photography in Vancouver! The beautiful 120-acre park is located right on the Columbia River.

Just about ten minutes from downtown Vancouver, I love this park for its size and diversity of backgrounds. I can easily spend an hour here with clients exploring the different corners of the park. The river provides a wide, soft light that works year-round, whether it’s overcast or sunny.

The park has variety, too: sand, open fields , driftwood, and mature trees. The mix is ideal for lifestyle shots and more classic portraits in one session. There’s usually enough space to shoot without other people in the background.

For couples, families, or solo portraits, it’s one of the most reliable spots in the area for clean, timeless images that still feel distinctly Pacific Northwest.

Honorable Mention: Wintler Community Park

Another one of my favorite secret spots in Vancouver is Wintler Community Park. Also right along the Columbia, this small park offers beautiful views across the river to Oregon flanked with gorgeous mature alder trees.

Wintler is in south-central Vancouver, easily accessible from downtown, Camas, and Washougal.
